You would think they could at least beat the leakers! Retrieved 6 November Zuma One of my most played records off all time. Neil says something and does something else
On the front of the insert is a letter to a character called "Waterface"; scratched into the run-out grooves on side one is the message "Hello Waterface" while the run-out grooves on side two read "Goodbye Waterface". This text is reportedly the lyrics to a Homegrown -era unreleased song titled "Florida", characterized by McDonough as "a cockamamie spoken-word dream, set to the shrieking accompaniment of either Young or [Ben] Keith drawing a wet finger around the rim of a glass. When unfolded, a whole side of the insert features a lengthy article printed entirely in Dutch.
Early editions of the sleeve were made on blotter paper. In Shakey , Young maintains that along with the inserts there was a small package of glitter inside the sleeve that was meant to fall out "our Bowie statement" , spilling when the listener took the record out. Dave Marsh wrote in the original Rolling Stone review:. The music has a feeling of offhand, first-take crudity matched recently only by Blood on the Tracks , almost as though Young wanted us to miss its ultimate majesty in order to emphasize its ragged edge of desolation.
If anything, these are the old ideas with a new sense of aggressiveness. The jitteriness of the music, its sloppy, unarranged but decidedly structured feeling is clearly calculated. Silver and Gold Greendale Neil Young: I think the release as it is grabs the initial live vibe of what they were doing, the first out of the studio parties to test drive it. LA, uptight, city in the smog! Especially with the Archives or Rust Currently listening to me the delivery of Neil young to Omeme 12 Good night Jose of Paris.
The tracklist for this, meanwhile, is a poor substitute and will not help Neil sell records, which I know is not the point; however, the lackluster sales for this will mean they will avoid this period, presumably, for even longer than they probably would have. Looks like Neil pulled the plug on TFA2 unless he later changes his mind and goes for more fractions. Here is the new speculation, coupled with hints from the archvies website. Then there is the matter of the unreleased and uber-hidden album he has on his timeline where the Rainbow shows lives.
Roxy 5: Odeon-Budokan 6: Bernstein TApes 7: Boarding House 8: Solo Trans the album 9: A Treasure Blue Note Cafe Freedom Live Dreamin Man. I was at that show, rather near the back but the Eagles played a very decent set with good sound.
I have no idea whether he was drunk or on something else but something was certainly not right. Mumbled words, incoherent finally being booed by the crowd, then upped and walked off.
The Eagles came back and played a second set to calm the crowd. I was at the Rainbow gig too. Eagles, new to UK were pretty decent in a Beach Boys harmony kinda way, presaging their rise to fame. Nope he played TTN again straight, all the tracks off the album. Sometimes he just plays himself. Getting "a show" was a bonus. You just had to be open to it. Funny old thing memory. The older I get the clearer the old stuff is.
Sorry Ross but I beg to differ. As for the gig that night I still remember it as a shambles, of course I accept that you may perceive the evening ad different to me and everyone has an opinion.
